A top quality Charles I oak chest with a boarded top held by its original butterfly hinges and a double panelled front with superbly carved dragons. The rails and muntin are deeply carved with the type of designs usually associated with Gloucestershire and the stiles have split bobbin appliques. The sides are carved with diamonds and it stands on high legs with a deep moulding at the base. Circa 1630. 42 1/2 inches wide x 18 1/2 inches deep x 26 1/2 inches high.
