From the second half of the 17th century and probably Dutch, an oil on board domestic scene showing a well dressed young woman seated on an upholstered backstool doing her needlework. She is accompanied by a small spaniel who is wearing a red collar. On the table is a Venetian glass, a decanter and some fruit on a pewter dish. It is signed on a bottle below the table with the initials A V ?. The oak panel measures 19 inches x 16 inches and it is 25 inches x 22 inches over the frame.
