Possibly Italian and based on the style of a font, this small and rare marble holy water stoup was probably for use in a private chapel or it was for portable use. It has a stepped base and a circular bowl with four lugs (one is now missing). It has a lovely mellow colour and is hard to date but it is unlikely to be later than mid 16th century. 7 1/4 inches high.
