A very rare example of a 16th century oak winged angel bearing a shield on which are carved English merchants' marks. These marks may be those of the man who was responsible for the woodwork in a church or possibly of the person who paid for the work. See "English Merchants' Marks" by F.A.Girling for similar marks incorporating the 4 figure which was used by various merchants including those of Thomas Walle of Grundisburgh, Suffolk. 13 inches high.
