Acquired from a long standing collection in Suffolk, this superb mid 18th century primitive comb back armchair is almost certainly a West Country piece. It has an elm crest, two inch tick seat and legs in elm and a wonderful arm bow in sycamore. See Bernard Cotton's English Regional Chairs page 262 fig: SW6 for a similar example. Overall height 43 inches, 16 1/2 inches seat height and 23 inches wide on the arms. Excellent colour and patination.
