Dating from the middle of the 17th century, this excellent quality refectory table has a cleated end top, baluster turned legs and peripheral stretchers. The front rail is carved with a run of leaf decoration whereas the other three sides are plain. The reason for this is that the table was intended for use with a fixed wall bench. See Chinnery fig 3:163a for a table of a very similar form and the carving suggests that they are from the same workshop. Wonderful colour and patination. 92 inches long x 28 inches wide x 29 inches high.
