This wonderful white tin glazed dish is in the "compendario " style which typically employs a pure white tin glaze with very restrained decoration which was designed to show off the beautiful effect of the moulding. This dish depicts Aphrodite seated beneath a tree while Cupid hovers nearby ready to loose love's arrow. Probably Faenza in the latter half of the 16th century. Lovely unrestored condition. 18 inches diameter.
