A LATE 17TH CENTURY OAK CRICKET TABLE.

A late 17th century oak cricket table of standard form but with a very interesting feature. The three plank top is secured as usual by pegs, but one was misdirected and as a result has split the top of the leg and is protruding. Instead of removing it and repairing the damage the maker has left it and merely secured it with a couple of nails, not even bothering to fill the hole in the top. It is the longest peg that I have seen, just over 5 inches. The table is in untouched condition and with excellent colour and patination. 26 inches diameter x 24 inches high.
