A painting of the interior of Notre Dame Cathedral

This very interesting oil on canvas painting almost certainly depicts the interior of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and judging by the clothes of the figures dates to the last quarter of the 18th century. The figures include the priest at the altar, a number of monks and a diverse collection of worshippers on their knees. In a small pulpit on the left a schoolmaster waves a birch at a kneeling girl. It is indistinctly signed bottom left but it should be possible to identify the artist. It measures 25 inches 30 inches across the canvas and 35 inches x 41 inches across the fine original giltwood frame.
