Dating to 1760, this large English wine bottle has the seal ASCR for All Souls Common Room. Heavily made with a very dark colour and a high kick to the base, the seal is "Seal 4, Flat type". This is an example of the first batch of wine bottles made for All Souls by the Dennis workshop in Stourbridge. These are the earliest surviving examples of ASCR bottles as the first batch which were made about ten years earlier were more lightly made and were nearly all broken as a result. 11 inches high.
